MERCEDES-BENZ STADIUM - CONCEPT DESIGN

ABOUT THE PROJECT

As one of five finalists vying to design the future home for the Atlanta Falcons, tvsdesign teamed up with Gensler and Heery International to develop a conceptual design for a new multipurpose stadium. Distinguished by its retractable roof and two spiraling forms – abstracted bird feathers – that envelope the seating bowl, the design artfully positions the stadium to serve as the cornerstone of the Georgia World Congress Center property near downtown Atlanta. The design employs imagery associated with football – muscularity, fluidity and engagement – while clearly expressing the team’s identity.

Leveraging our firsthand knowledge of the Georgia World Congress Center campus, we designed GWCC’s master plan and produced the original and subsequent expansion designs for the Georgia World Congress Center, tvsdesign’s participation in the new stadium project starts with site and streetscape design, focused on accomplishing the larger urban design goals of campus, community and city district connectivity.
